Volunteer Opportunities:
- Special Events Staff Support: to help with museum events
- Meet and Greet Guests
- Lead Kids’ Crafts and Games
- Assist in event set up and tear down
- Historical Interpreters/Tour Guides (Training is Provided)
- School Tour Guides provide programs for students that offer hands-on experiences
- Event/Site Photography
- Social Media Publicity
- Graphic Designers/Artists: to create event flyers and exhibit signage
- Historic Building Caretakers: general maintenance and routine cleaning and upkeep of the village buildings
- Exhibit Caretakers: routine cleaning of exhibits in Exhibit Hall
- Fundraising: assist and promote benefit events
- Visitor Services: greet and assist visitors
- Grounds Maintenance: routine care of Museum grounds (mowing, trimming, weeding)
- Gardening: routine care of flower, herb and vegetable gardens
- Clerical Assistants: assist with phone calls/data entry/mailings
- Public Relations: distribute Museum promotional information
- Program Development: provide input on implementation of school programs and museum events
- Demonstrators: teach/demonstrate a 19th century craft
- Curatorial Assistance: help catalog collections and identify objects and their purpose
- General Maintenance & Repair: help with carpentry, painting, plumbing, or electrical work
- Special Projects: example – recording oral history
Volunteer Commitment Requirements
- No minimum volunteer hours are required
- Volunteers who agree to assist with a specific project, event or tour are expected to honor that agreement
