Volunteer Opportunities

From preserving collections to welcoming visitors, every role helps the museum serve its community.
Events & Guest Experience
- Special Events Staff Support: help with museum events
- Meet and greet guests
- Lead kids’ crafts and games
- Assist in event set up and tear down
- Visitor Services: greet and assist visitors
Education & Living History
- Historical interpreters and tour guides (training is provided)
- School tour guides who provide hands-on experiences for students
- Program Development: help implement school programs and museum events
- Demonstrators: teach or demonstrate a 19th-century craft
Collections & Exhibits
- Exhibit Caretakers: routine cleaning of Exhibit Hall displays
- Curatorial Assistance: help catalog collections and identify objects and their purpose
- Special Projects, such as recording oral history
Buildings & Grounds
- Historic Building Caretakers: routine cleaning and upkeep of village buildings
- Grounds Maintenance: mowing, trimming and weeding
- Gardening: care for flower, herb and vegetable gardens
- General Maintenance & Repair: carpentry, painting, plumbing or electrical work
Creative & Communications
- Event and site photography
- Social media publicity
- Graphic Designers and Artists: create event flyers and exhibit signage
- Public Relations: distribute museum promotional information
Administration & Advancement
- Fundraising: assist with and promote benefit events
- Clerical Assistants: help with phone calls, data entry and mailings
Volunteer Commitment Requirements
Flexible by design. Dependable by nature.
No minimum volunteer hours are required.
Volunteers who agree to assist with a specific project, event or tour are expected to honor that agreement.
